Down to Earth and Valleys Kids Training and Residential Centre

Down to Earth and Valleys Kids Training and Residential Centre, Little Bryngwyn, Gower, SA3 1EB.

 

The 6 acre site comprises a series of low energy single and two storey structures linked by a series of walkways and water courses. The proposals include:

  • Agricultural Training Centre, 152 square metres, with central teaching space, kitchen, toilets, storage and external deck. The circular teaching space is covered with a single or double reciprocal frame roof with a central opening roof light.
  • Residential Centre, 489 square metres on two storeys, to accommodate up to 25 persons in single and shared rooms. The ground floor includes a communal living space, dining room, kitchen/greenhouse and office/toilets.
  • 4 barns for animal housing and feed, equipment and tools. The barns range from 62 m2 to 95m2.
  • Toilet and shower block.
  • De-kit building
  • Sensory garden, organic walkways, wildlife ponds paddocks and water courses and bridges.

The buildings are proposed to be very low energy, structured in local timber with lime-finished straw bale or cob walls and timber roofs, covered with wildflower / turf or, on south-facing roofs, PV and solar water heating.
